Project A is an operational VC that provides its ventures with capital, an extensive network and exclusive access to a wide range of operational expertise. The Berlin-based investor makes use of the €260m in assets under its management to back early-stage companies in the digital technology space. With its unique organizational structure featuring 100 operational experts, Project A offers its portfolio companies hands-on support in the areas of IT, Marketing & Brand Building, Business Intelligence, Sales and Recruiting. The portfolio includes companies such as Catawiki, WorldRemit, Tictail, Contorion, nu3, Lostmy.name and ZenMate.

We are looking for:

A new team member for our A-team

Your Tasks

  • Management and further development of the Finance function of the entire Project A Group, including accounting, controlling, A/R management, treasury and portfolio performance
  • Close cooperation with Management, our legal counsel and the Investor Relations department
  • Ensuring highly automated accounting processes
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as well as corresponding tax declarations in close cooperation with our tax advisors and auditors
  • Provision of all relevant data for investor reporting purposes
  • Further development of the budget planning and controlling processes of our operational entity
  • Establishment of systems for the monitoring of our portfolio companies
  • Coaching of portfolio companies in the set-up of their finance functions and building up an internal Project A operational team for venture finance support
  • Responsible contact person for auditors, tax advisors, banks and other external contacts

Your Profile

  • You have a good degree in economics or a comparable qualification
  • You gained at least 5 years of professional experience in the field of finance/accounting, partly in a leadership position
  • Ideally, you possess work experience in the field of auditing and in a start-up environment
  • You acquired good knowledge of German tax law and you possess all necessary experience for statutory requirements in HGB and IFRS
  • Additionally, you have already gained experience in setting up and automating controlling, budgeting and accounting processes
  • You have experience with data structuring, analysis, modelling and visualization (expert level in Excel required; knowledge in VBA, PowerPivot, Power BI would be a plus)
  • You communicate fluently in German and English
  • Ideally, you also possess a CFA qualification and can prove M and A experience
